The problem

During the pandemic period in 2022, South Korea saw nearly 50,000 new COVID-19 cases daily. Social distancing measures posed significant challenges for voting, particularly for those diagnosed with or in self-quarantine due to the 'Omicron' variant. Ensuring accessibility for all voters, including the elderly with strong political views, was crucial.

The goal

Our election reporting system will provide users with accurate, real-time information and combat misinformation, promoting fair voter engagement and maintaining user safety and trust.

Archetypal Modes

Due to severe mid-pandemic restrictions, User Interviews were impossible. Despite these challenges, I strategically highlighted the core features of this project through Archetype research. I identified three key user archetypes and, based on their analysis and journey maps, developed a strategy for an interactive system that enables users to understand weather information and engage in real-time communication.

Users across all archetypes face a common challenge: the need for reliable, real-time, and user-friendly disaster information to support informed decision-making and community engagement.

Beta Test: Switched to our own mapping technology for better predictions, but the layout was cluttered, making information hard to grasp.

Final Refinement: Streamlined navigation by moving the ‘Typhoon’ menu up and removing redundancies. Optimized the map for clarity and anchored ReportChat for real-time user engagement, making disaster updates more accessible and actionable.

Refining the Design: ReportChat
